print from you primary applications (you know Word, PowerPoint, other applications all people who work at Microsoft assume you have). Take a different Windows 7 client and connect. Make any settings changes for the print queue.

Install the 32bit driver, then from a 64bit Windows machine with the drivers downloaded and expanded, launch Printmanagement.msc, add the XP machine, find the printer, Manage Sharing, IGNORE the prompt to install the driver locally, Additional drivers, point to the inf. Use INF install If you have not tested the configuration setup an XP machine to act as a print server. It's best to have the same version 32bit and 64bit drivers.

The 64 bit driver names must match the 32 bit drivers installed on the server. As an aside should we have used the PCL5e drivers instead? What does WHQL certified mean? Sorry for all the questions - I'm a bit nervious that I'll take down our exiting print capability when trying to add support for X64 Win 7. Note that neither device is directly attached - they are connected via LAN-TCP/IP. They have files for the INF, Setup, and "Generic" whatever that is. I guess the drivers with PCL6 are the ones to concentrate on. (My 2003 server does not have the Print Manager add-in.) The ir2030 is really confusing. Should I use a setup.exe or the INF file? If I use the INF file how do I accomplish the update? Asking another way: what is the best way to update the drivers on a server that is up and running with 25 dekstops pointing to an existing shared printer? Reading other threads it then looks like I need use Print Manager to add additional drivers and point to the downloaded INF version of the X64 driver.
So I think I need to update the driver on the server first - looks like 2.7 is the current UFRII version. I have too many choices!!!! (Plus I don't know what I'm doing!) ir1023 choices: ir2030 choices: Print Manger run from an existing X86 Vista box reports these drivers on the server: Canon iR1018/1022/1023 UFRII LT Windows NT x86 1.60.0.0 Canon Canon iR2022/2025/2030 PCL6 Windows NT x86 6.5.0.0 Canon I'm not sure what UFRII LT is, but it is working. Windows Server 2003 SP2 (not R2) X86 with new Win 7 X64 clients - Canon ir1023 and ir2030 LAN attached copiers I'm pretty sure I need to update the existing drivers on the server before I can add X64 drivers for Win 7.
